The woman is sitting straight beneath her cross, pious. With a soft look in her eye, she is searching for a sign of compassion and hope.
The husband has a haggard look, beaten down by his fears, regrets, failures and weaknesses.
The message here is that Jesus will not answer all your prayers, or magically make things happen.
Some Christians today believe that their hopes will fall from the sky, and that God will provide.
But this is an illusion. This was not Jesus’ message.
If Jesus lived with you, would you expect everything from him ?
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have,
For God has said, "I will never leave you; I will never abandon you."
Hebrews 13:5
